I LOVE ART

MOM.DAD.AM I FOR SALE? (PROSTITUTION)

Prostitution in the Philippines is illegal. It is a serious crime with penalties ranging up to life imprisonment for those involved in trafficking. But why is it we can still see prostitutes all over the metro? Also, in some provinces here in the Philippines?

Women here in the Philippines are expected to be pure, conservative and consider their bodies “precious”. We are expected to give our “all” when it’s already time  and if it’s all for the name of “love” AFTER “marriage”. This is our “CULTURE”. But why is it you can see women all over the streets selling their bodies to give pleasure in other people whom they don’t really know?

According to my research, some people are willing to sell their body just to earn money to fulfill their needs like for food and for their bills to pay, they also get to prostitution because of unemployment , poverty and also some of those women are being raped, those rape victims thought that their lives are ruined now so why treasure or care for their body, why not sell it so they could earn some money exchange for sexual pleasure?

But what’s worse is that… some parents today are the ones who serve as a “myrmidon” or “bugaw” for their child. Parents are expected to guide us and point us into the right direction. But I felt so sad when I found out that some parents sold their child for the exchange of “MONEY” and “DRUGS”.This is another kind of prostitution, and it is called “FORCED PROSTITUTION” wherein innocent girls in the family were forced to serve in sexual servitude.

According to gvnet.com, hundreds of children as young as 5 locked in cages stacked a half-dozen high. Most were child prostitutes, caught in that country’s rampant sex tourism trade. Broadcast on CNN, it highlighted an issue the world couldn’t ignore, and hit hardest in North America, where many of the children’s regular customers live.

More than 60,000 Filipino girls work as child prostitutes. They are recruited by pimps in rural areas of the country from unsuspecting, desperately poor families who send their daughters to the city and be a prostitute to earn extra money. Most of the girls were sold directly by their family for the exchange of money. Girls are sold in the brothels and on the streets for as little as $25 and can see as many as 10 customers a day. If they don’t make enough money, they are beaten.

For me, Poverty is not a reason to engage in the sex industry just to earn money. Maybe it’s the easiest but it also has the hardest consequences. Prostitution affects our society in many ways. Prostitution is more than just a sexual related crime and can actually lead to more crimes and violence on the streets. You can get Sexually Transmitted Diseases (including HIV/AIDS, chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, human papilloma virus, and syphilis) that are now spreading all over the world which could kill you.

So for all teenage girls, we should treat our bodies like a temple of God so that we could be righteous in the eyes of God and in the eyes of our loved ones. And we should learn how to respect the beautiful temple that God had given us. We should also be thankful to our parents that are doing the best for us. We should be thankful that they love us no matter who we are. And we should also be thankful that they are not selling us for the exchange of money and drugs. All we can do is to be a good example to every teenager and to pray for those teenagers that are already  having difficulties in their lives.

LIVE PURE! <3
